Henry GRIGGS Sr. was born on 7 October 1583 in Boxted, Babergh District, Suffolk County, England.15,39,44,45,59,67 (The "Genealogy of The Griggs Family" lists Henry's parents as "Henry, Sr.", and Alice (Unknown) Griggs, with his paternal grandparents being Robert and Joane (Davey) Griggs, and his paternal great-grandparents being William and Catherine (Browne) Griggs.

Other sources list Henry as a son of John and Martha (Unknown) Griggs. John was an older brother of "Henry, Sr.", and it is believed that John was this Henry's father.) He was christened on 7 October 1583 in Boxted, Babergh District, Suffolk County, England.66,67 He signed a will before 1669.15 The "Genealogy of The Griggs Family" indicates that his will was proven 15 June 1570; it is believed that the year was actually 1670. Henry died on 3 March 1679 at the age of 95 in Boxted, Babergh District, Suffolk County, England.44,66 He was buried on 4 March 1679 in Somerton, Babergh District, Suffolk County, England.31,45,51,66 in the St. Margaret Churchyard. Henry GRIGGS Sr. and Susan STEBBING were married on 23 December 1628 in Hartest, Babergh District, Suffolk County, England.20,34,66,67 Hartest is a small village and civil parish in the Babergh district of the English county of Suffolk. It is located halfway between Bury St. Edmunds and Sudbury on the B1066 road in the Glem valley. Brockley is two miles north.

The village of Hartest dates back to before 1086 and features in the Domesday Book. The name 'Hartest' is thought to mean either 'Stag Hill' or 'Stag Wood'.  It is claimed that there are no other villages, towns or cities in the world of the same name.

The village is centred on the large village green, fringed by an array of brightly coloured cottages, the village hall or institute, the medieval All Saints church and the Crown public house, formerly Hartest Hall the local landowner's seat. There is an annual fete held on the village green at the end of August each year.

Running east of the village centre is Hartest Hill, the steepest in Suffolk. Susan STEBBING31 was born in 1602 in Hartest, Babergh District, Suffolk County, England.31,66,69 She died on 26 December 1678 at the age of 76 in Somerton, Babergh District, Suffolk County, England.31,50,69 She was buried in Somerton, Babergh District, Suffolk County, England.31 in the St. Margaret Churchyard.
