"John" GURSKE was born on 25 January 1844 in Wonosch, Schubin, Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).^1,2,4 He was christened on 4 February 1844 in Schubin, Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).² About 1880 he was a farmer in Monroe County, WI.⁴ in the Kinney Valley. John appeared in the census in 1880 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.¹ He appeared in the census in 1900 in Wellington Township, Monroe County, WI.⁵ He died on 13 March 1916 at the age of 72 in Sheldon Township, Monroe County, WI.^2,6,7 His wife was listed as a widow in the 1920 Census. John was buried in 1916 in Wilton, Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.⁷ in the St. Paul's German Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Johann M. "John" GURSKE and Wilhelmine Friederika "Auguste" HAASE were married in 1865.^4,5,8 According to the 1900 Census, they had 10 children, of which only 3 were living at the time. Wilhelmine Friederika "Auguste" HAASE, daughter of Karl HAASE and Wilhelmine BUY, was born in August 1844 in Bartschin, Schubin, Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).^4,5,9 (Her surname was spelled "Hase" in the baptism record of her son Wilhelm and the marriage registration record of her daughter Anna.) She was listed as "Willhamina A." in the 1900 Census. She appeared in the census in 1900 in Wellington Township, Monroe County, WI.⁵ She appeared in the census in 1920 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.⁶ She was living with her daughter Anna and her family.
