Wagner, 88, of Tomah, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at Serenity House in Tomah. He was born April 14, 1924, to William A. and Irene (Meyer) Wagner in Clifton. He was united in marriage to Carol Campfield June 14, 1947, in Kendall at the Federated Church. She preceded him in death May 17, 1998. He worked for the Standard Oil Company and for Dubuque Packing Company as a livestock buyer until his retirement in 1994. He was a United States Army Veteran, and served during World War II. He was a member of the Grassman-Sowle-Larsen-Senz American Legion Post No. 201 and served as a past commander. He was a member of Monroe County Voiture 40et8 and served as a past Chef De Gare. He enjoyed spending his time golfing and was a member of the Hiawatha Golf Club. He was an avid fisherman. He was a faithful member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church for many years. He is survived by two sons, Lt. Col. (Ret) Ronald (Kitty) Wagner of Cambridge and Dewey (Pat) Wagner of Verona; two daughters, Candis (Gary) Chapman of Friendship and Rhonda (Duane) Von Haden of Tomah; eight grandchildren, Matthew (Marion ) Wagner of Waconia, Minn., Kelly (James Enser) Wagner of Madison, Paul Wagner of Cambridge, Chris Wagner of Madison, Mya (James) Rognstad of Evansville, Cody (Angela Witt) Wagner of Madison, SRA Colin Dittmar of Aurora, Colo., and Jared Von Haden of Tomah; seven great-grandchildren, Adam, Michael, Sofia, Brielle, River, Kendall and Alivia; a brother, William Wagner of Clifton; a brother-in-law, Richard Campfield of Tomah; many nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 525 Superior Ave. Tomah. Pastor Curt Backhaus will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery with military honors by the Grassman-Sowle-Larsen-Senz American Legion Post No. 201." .
