John died on 9 March 1862 at the age of 70 in Waukesha, Waukesha County, WI.^1,2 He was buried in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.⁵ in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

John William HOWARD and Mary BON were married on 27 September 1815 in Sparta Township, Livingston County, NY.^1,6,7 Mary BON, daughter of John BON and Anna REEVES, was born on 24 November 1797 in Manlius, Onondaga County, NY.^1,6,7 (According to her obituary, she was born "near Perry, Genessee Co., NY.")
