George was born on May 20, 1948, in Tomah, the son of Charles and Ann (Gondrezick) Fiedler. He worked several years in Tomah and Minneapolis for the Milwaukee Road railroad. He proudly served his country from 1968 to 1969 in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Besides the National Defense Service Medal and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, he was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars. George had a great love for his family and his country. He enjoyed his many friends and his faithful canine companions throughout the years. He served his country and never stopped serving his family and friends whom he treated as extended family his entire life. He was loved and will be missed by many. George is survived by his siblings, Jim and Donna Fiedler of Hancock, Bob and MaryAnne Fiedler of Ark., Jane and William Wojta of Manitowoc and Greg and Sue Fiedler of North Carolina, many nieces and nephews, and special family friends Joey and Tyler Halverson. A special thanks to Veteran Service Officer Wanda Plourde for having been God’s angel in his life. A Time to celebrate George’s life will be on Friday, May 21, from 4 until 6 p.m. at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson. Interment will be private. Full military honors will be provided by the Hudson VFW and American Legion Posts." |
