12. Mearea Dorothea Friederike "Maria" KOEPCKE5,8 was born on 19 November 1819 in Dobbin-Linstow, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Province, Preussen (Prussia).9,10,11,12,13 (Her surname was spelled "Kopke," with an umlaut, in the church marriage record of her son Heinrich.)

(She may have been a sister of Friedrich Koepcke, 1829-1899.) She was baptized on 21 November 1819 in Dobbertin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Province, Preussen (Prussia).5 She emigrated in 1846 from Preussen (Prussia).14 Maria appeared in the census in 1860 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.9 She appeared in the census in 1870 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.15 (Her surname was spelled "Aeglaber" in the census record.) She appeared in the census in 1880 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.16 Her household consisted of herself and her sons Wilhelm and Heinrich. It was located next to that of her son Friedrich and his family. Maria died on 29 December 1891 at the age of 72 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.8,10,11 She was buried on 31 December 1891 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.10,11 in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery. She has Ancestral File Number G35L-3JB.17 Maria has Ancestral File Number K8GG-HFA.17

Mearea Dorothea Friederike "Maria" KOEPCKE and Christoph "Charles" ECKELBERGER were married on 12 November 1857 in Madison, Dane County, WI.8,9,14,18 Christoph "Charles" ECKELBERGER8, son of Franz ECKELBERGER and Isabelle UNKNOWN (ECKELBERGER), was born on 6 April 1825 in Schwerin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).8,9,14,19,20 (Within a year or two after he arrived in America, he shortened his surname to "Eckelberg." It was listed that way in 1862 on the list of Charter Members of St. John's Lutheran Church in Ridgeville.) He emigrated before 1857 from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Province, Preussen (Prussia). He appeared in the census in 1860 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.9 His surname was spelled as "Egleberg" and his occupation was "Farmer."

Charles was Lutheran about 1862 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.21 He was listed in the Church Register as member number 7 of the first 100 members of the congregation of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ridgeville. He died on 10 April 1864 at the age of 39 in Monroe County, WI.8,14,20,22,23 Find-a-Grave Website Note of Glenn Jacobsen: "Christoph was the son of Frederich and Elisabeth Eckelberg. He was one of two brothers that immigrated from Mecklenberg, Germany, the other being Frederich Theodore Eckelberg. Christoph married Mearea (Maria) D. Koepke, the widow of his brother Christian who died back in Germany." (Note: The names of his parents listed above and the existence of a brother named Christian cannot be confirmed in the Mecklenburg church records.)

(His death is not listed in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Register of Deaths and Burials, although he is buried in the church cemetery.) He was buried in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.8,14 in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery.

He appeared in the census in 1900 in Sheldon Township, Monroe County, WI.25 He was not married and living as a "Boarder" in the household of William (?) and Frances Wallace; his occupation was listed as "Farmer." William appeared in the census in 1910 in Sheldon Township, Monroe County, WI.26 He was not married. He appeared in the census in 1920 in Cunningham Township, Potter County, SD.27 He was not married. He appeared in the census in 1930 in Cunningham Township, Potter County, SD.28 He was not married. William died on 2 September 1934 at the age of 74 in Gettysburg, Potter County, SD.24,29,30 Obituary Notes: "William Eckelburg, 76 year old bachelor, who has made his home in Gettysburg for the past year or two, passed away Sunday morning at his home in the west part of town. Mr. Eckelburg had been ill for some time with a chronic ailment. He had lived in the Lebanon territory for a number of years before moving to Gettysburg. So far as is known, there are no surviving relatives. Funeral services were held from the Gifford undertaking parlors at 2 o'clock Monday, Rev. Beyer of Agar, SD, officiating."
