Johann "John" KOOPMANN Jr. was born in February 1862 in Schleswig-Holstein Province, Preussen (Prussia).1,2,12,16,17 (It is not known for sure that Nicholas and John were brothers, but Lucille Koopman Reisenauer always remembers referring to John as "Uncle John." Her aunt Elizabeth Koopman Waegner did not want Lucille to visit John at his shoe repair shop in Tomah, but she never told her the reason.) He emigrated in 1882 from Schleswig-Holstein Province, Preussen (Prussia).9,13 Between 1885 and 1932 he was a shoe repairman in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.16,17 at the Peter Johnson Shoe Store. John appeared in the census in 1895 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.7 His household was in the 2nd Ward and consisted of 2 males and 2 females. Three of them were born in the United States and 1 in Germany, John. He appeared in the census in 1900 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.2 He appeared in the census in 1910 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.9 They lived on Hollister Avenue and his occupation was listed as "Cobbler." John appeared in the census in 1920 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.12 He appeared in the census in 1930 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.13 They lived on Cameron Street and his occupation was listed as "Cobbler" at Johnson's shoe store. He died in 1932 at the age of 70.16

Johann "John" KOOPMANN Jr. and Johanna M. "Caroline" KUPPER were married on 24 January 1885 in Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.16,17,18 In the Marriage Registration record, his surname was spelled "Koopmann" and his occupation was listed as "Shoemaker." The witnesses for their marriage were Gustav Kupper, one of her brothers; Nicolaus Koopmann, his brother; and Friederike Wegner, unknown. Johanna M. "Caroline" KUPPER, daughter of Karl KUPPER and Helena LABUDE, was born on 11 December 1866 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, WI.2,16,17,19 (Her given name is shown as Clarra in the 1880 Census.) (The 1900 Census lists her as having been born in December 1867.) She was confirmed on 21 March 1880 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.20 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She appeared in the census in 1910 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.9 Caroline appeared in the census in 1920 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.12 She appeared in the census in 1930 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.13 She died on 26 January 1935 at the age of 68.16
