John Anthony SMITH (`~) and Rebecca MENDENHALL were married on 18 October 1838 in Fairfield, Jefferson County, OH.^10,11,16,33 Rebecca MENDENHALL, daughter of Jonathan MENDENHALL and Nancy Ann PHILLIPS, was born on 10 October 1816 in Deep River, Guilford County, NC.^11,16,33 (Her birth place may have been Danbury, Stokes County, NC,) She died on 8 May 1855 at the age of 38 in Cherokee, Crawford County, KS.^11,16,33
