41. Margaret M. GLOEDE was born on 14 January 1921 in Clifton, Clifton Township, Monroe County, WI.³⁷ She died on 7 December 2014 at the age of 93 in La Crosse, La Crosse County, WI.^37,38

Obituary Notes: "Margaret M. Preuss, 93, of La Crosse died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014, at Hillview Health Care Center in La Crosse. Margaret was born Jan. 14, 1921, to Edward and Martha (Liersch) Gloede in the town of Clifton. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Margaret was a member of the Tomah Senior High School graduating class of 1939.

On Oct. 15, 1949, she was united in marriage to Eldon Preuss in Wilton. Eldon and Margaret enjoyed happy years traveling and visiting their family and friends. Margaret worked for many years at Auto-Lite Company in La Crosse, and retired as a cook in the La Crosse School District at Jefferson School.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Gladys Gloede of Wilton; nephews, Larry (Linda) Gloede, LaCrosse, Howard Gloede, Winona, Minn.; and a niece, Diane Gloede, Dell, Wis.

Margaret was a devoted wife and sister and a loving aunt. She had an optimistic outlook, good humor and a warm laugh that stayed with her to the end. She enjoyed tending her flowers and yard and had an incredible green thumb. She was still gardening into her 90s. An avid reader and animal lover, she brightened the world of all who knew her by her intelligence, wit, kindness and caring. She will be missed greatly by those who knew and loved her.

Margaret was preceded in death her husband; her parents; and her brother, Raymond Gloede.

Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, Dec. 12, at the Cremation Region Cremation Group and Funeral Home, 133 Mason St., Onalaska. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 11 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. Luncheon will be served at 12:30 p.m. at the same location."

Margaret M. GLOEDE and Eldon J. PREUSS were married on 15 October 1949 in Wilton, Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.³⁷ Eldon J. PREUSS, son of Gustav H. PREUSS and May E. KOPENHAFER, was born about 1922 in Wisconsin.³⁹ He appeared in the census in 1930 in Plymouth Township, Juneau County, WI.³⁹ He died before February 2002 at the age of 80.⁴⁰
