Peter MANNEL was born in 1831 in Wehrshausen, Hessen (Hesse) Province, Preussen (Prussia).^2,3 He appeared in the census in 1870 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.² He appeared in the census in 1880 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.⁴ His occupation was "Farmer." Peter appeared in the census in 1905 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.⁵ He was a Widower and his daughter Emma was living with him. He died in 1909 at the age of 78.³ He was buried in 1909 in Norwalk, Monroe County, WI.³ in the Wanderer's Rest Cemetery.

Peter MANNEL and Elisabeth WITMAR were married in New York.^6,7 Elisabeth WITMAR⁸ was born on 25 December 1835 in Switzerland.^4,6 She appeared in the census in 1880 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.⁴ She died in 1893 at the age of 58 in Monroe County, WI.⁶ (She died in either Norwalk or Ridgeville.) Elisabeth was buried in Norwalk, Monroe County, WI.³ in the Wanderer's Rest Cemetery. (Her surname is listed in the St. John's baptism record as "Witmar." Some sources have it as "Widmer.")
