Howard Raymond FALKNER and Dorothy Neoma KUEHL were married on 29 December 1945 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.87,140 Dorothy Neoma KUEHL, daughter of William Frederick KUEHL and Ella Amanda BARTEL, was born on 15 June 1921 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.38,214 She appeared in the census in 1930 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.33 About 1932 she was a school teacher in Greenfield Township, Monroe County, WI.215 in the Pleasant Valley School. Dorothy graduated in 1939 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.216 from Tomah High School. She died on 28 November 2011 at the age of 90 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.214

She was born to Ella (Bartel) and William Kuehl, June 15, 1921, in the township of Adrian, Monroe County. She was united in marriage to Howard R. Falkner on Dec. 29, 1945, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church of Tomah.

Dorothy was a lifelong resident of the Tomah area. She attended a rural school in Monroe County and Tomah High School and was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse; she did post-graduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

For 10 years she taught in several rural schools in Monroe County and then accepted a position to teach special education in the Tomah public schools for 26 years. She received the first Teacher of the Year award from the Tomah Education Association in 1977. She retired in 1986 with a total of more than 36 years in the teaching profession.

Dorothy was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tomah, United Methodist Women and the Elizabeth Circle. Through the years, she served her church on various committees and offices and in the choir. She was a member of Monroe County Retired Teachers Association, Wisconsin Education Association, Tomah Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, United Methodist Piece Makers quilting group and Cherry Valley Sunshine Club.

She is survived by one daughter, Bonnie (James) Kronenberger of Cannon Falls, Minn.; five sons, Ronald (Arlean) of Brookfield, James (Marcie) of Tomah, David of San Diego, Raymond (Roxy) of Portage and Neil of Atlanta; 10 grandchildren, James (Corina) Kronenberger of Cannon Falls, Anthony (special friend June) Kronenberger of Minneapolis, Shelly (David) Heinkel of Brookfield, Eric (Candace) Falkner of Pewaukee, Heidi Falkner of Colorado, Jaron (Sue) Falkner of Tomah, Jason (Kristen) Falkner of Oconomowoc, Heather Falkner of Portage, Tiffany Falkner of Wisconsin Dells and Ryan (Gabrielle) Falkner of Minneapolis; ten great-grandchildren, Carmen, Carson and Conner Kronenberger, Luke, Julia and Joshua Heinkel, Shayla and Sean Storkel and Colton and River Falkner; a sister-in-law, Marie (Arnold) Kuehl; and many nieces and nephews.

Her husband Howard; her parents; her three brothers, Alvin, Arnold and Milfred Kuehl; and one sister-in-law, Mabel (Alvin) Kuehl, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Tomah. Pastor William Swan will officiate. Burial will follow at the LaGrange Cemetery, Tomah. Family and friends are invited for visitation Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, from 4-7 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home and again on Saturday from 2 p.m. until the time of service at the church."
