Sir John Malcom MCNAUTT was born on 27 June 1710 in Glenco, County Argyll, Scotland.1,2 (Source: www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/families/mcnutt) From the Family History of the Alexander McNutt Family (As told by Alexander to his son, Peter, in 1848): "Alexander's father, Sir John Malcolm McNautt (other spellings of the name - McNutt, McNaught, McNatt, McNaughton, MacNechton) was born in Arrygleshire, Scotland near Glencoe (Glenco) on June 27, 1710. He was the oldest son of Sir John McNautt. Both father and son served in the Scottish House of Lords. From 1714-1751, John Malcolm spent much time in Ireland, because of the troubles in Scotland due to the Uprisings. In 1744 he married Celia McCrae (McCrae) in Garath, County Antrim, Ireland. Her family had migrated from Scotland to Ireland earlier. John Malcolm's younger brothers, William, Alexander, James and Robert, had emigrated to America before he did. They settled Maryland and Virginia. In 1751 John Malcolm McNautt and his family came to America settling first near Hagerstown, MD. It was there that the spelling of the name was changed to McNutt. Later the family moved to Virginia, settling in the part of Augustus County that later became Botetourt County." Sir John Malcom MCNAUTT and Celia MCRAE were married in 1744 in Garath, County Antrim, Ireland.2 Celia MCRAE was born in 1724 in County Antrim, Ireland.1,2 She died in 1760 at the age of 36 in Botetourt County, Virginia Colony, British Colonial America.2 Sir John Malcom MCNAUTT and Celia MCRAE had the following children:
