Harold was born July 16, 1914, to Fred and Bertha (Mails) Neitzel in Tomah, WI. Harold was a 1932 graduate of Tomah High School. He was united in marriage to Marian Fischer, Jan. 1, 1937, at his parents’ home. Harold and Marian owned and operated Neitzel’s Furniture and Funeral in Tomah. Harold sold the funeral home because he was being drafted into WWII. The business then became Neitzel’s Furniture Mart and in total they owned and operated the business for 43 years. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, hunting and fishing. Harold is survived by his children, Mary Ellen (Bob) Dvorak of Rockford, IL, Jean (John) Finch of Rhinelander, WI, and Rob (Vicki) Neitzel of Tomah; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; a sister, Leola (Tom) Keene of Tomah, WI; a brother, Marvin (Betty) Neitzel of Tomah, WI; along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Bertha; his wife Marian, who passed away Jan. 7, 2005; an infant sister, Frieda; and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, 12 noon at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah. Pastor Donald Buch will officiate. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at The Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah." Harold E. Neitzel, 86, of Tomah, passed away Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at Tomah Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 25, 1918, to John and Katherine (Salchenburger) Fischer at Dorset Valley near Tomah. She graduated from Tomah High School in 1936, and was united in marriage to Harold Neitzel on Jan. 1, 1937, at the home of Harold's father. Marian obtained an Interior Decorating degree. Harold and Marian owned and operated Neitzel's Furniture and Funeral in Tomah. Harold sold the funeral home because he was being drafted into WWII. The business then became Neitzel's Furniture Mart and in total they owned and operated the business for 43 years. Marian enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, reading and excelled as a bridge and euchre player. She knitted over 150 pair of "TV" slippers and afghans for all her children and grandchildren. Marian is survived by her husband, Harold, of Tomah; children Mary Ellen (Bob) Dvorak of Rockford, IL, Jean (John) Finch of Rhinelander and Rob (Vicki) Neitzel of Tomah; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; sisters Inez Fuchs of New Berlin, Rosalie Sowle of Wauwatosa and Helen Wunderlin of Florida. She was preceded in death by three sisters, LaVerne, Vera and Elreda; three brothers, Gilbert, Alvin and John Fischer; and one granddaughter. Funeral services were held on Monday, Jan. 10, at 11 a.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Burial followed in Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah. Pastor Phillip M. Enderle officiated. Family and friends called Sunday, Jan. 9, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home and again Monday, Jan. 10, from 10 a.m. until time of the service.
