Glen died on 30 August 2007 at the age of 87 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.78 Obituary Notes: "Glen S. Kenyon, age 87, of Sparta, WI, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, at the Franciscan Skemp Healthcare Center in Sparta. He was born on April 19, 1920, to Charles M. and Harriet (Shookman) Kenyon in Tunnel City, WI. He was married to Dolores A. Siekert on Feb. 13, 1943, in Sparta, by Rev. Arthur Berg. Glen graduated from Tomah High School in 1938. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942 and went into the Field Artillery and after O.C.S, was in the Mule Pack Division serving in the China, Burma and India theaters, receiving many awards. When Glen came home from the Army in 1946, he became a farmer. He started farming on Dorset Ridge and then in Bush Prairie, both in Monroe County. Glen served as LaFayette Township treasurer for many years. They retired to Sparta in 1982. He was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sparta, serving on many boards including the Board of Elders and Cemetery Board. Other boards that he served on include Rural Firefighters, Sparta Produce Coop Exchange, Sparta Coop Oil, and Sparta Mutual Ins. He is survived by his wife, Dolores of 64 years; three children, Patricia Kenyon of Kissimmee, FL, Rodney Kenyon of Madison, WI, and Gary Kenyon at home; three grandchildren, Scott (Jessie) Grasse of Hortonville, Eric Grasse of Memphis, TN, and Amanda Kenyon of Sun Prairie. He is further survived by a sister, Helen Kelley of Sparta, WI; sister-in-law, Bernice Kenyon of Tomah; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Harriet; four sisters, Doris, Viva, Jeannette and Kathleen, two brothers, Kyle and James and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 11:30 a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sparta. Pastor Mark Wessel will officiate. Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Sparta. Family and friends are invited for visitation today (Monday), Sept. 3, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Torkelson Page-Smith Funeral Home in Sparta. Family and friends are also invited for visitation on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. The Torkelson Page-Smith Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements."
