Schamens, 79, of Sparta passed away Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014. Marlow enjoyed woodworking, collecting and restoring Allis Chalmers tractors and toys. He went to many toy and farm tractor shows. In his younger years, he enjoyed dancing and Lorna and Marlow traveled to many polka fests. During their travels to toy shows, dances and vacations, they made it to 49 states and Canada. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Monroe County 4-H, FFA, West Beaver Creek Community Club, Monroe County Holstein Breeders and Farm Bureau. For most of his life, Marlow farmed his family farm and also drove school bus for the Sparta Area School District for 43 years, retiring on his birthday in 2000. Marlow is survived by his wife, Lorna; two daughters, Marlyce (Dave) Barclay of Black River Falls and Clarice (Jim) Stuessel of Sparta; four grandchildren, Melissa (Brandon) Sands of Eau Claire, Eric (Kristi) Barclay of Madison, Matt (Megan) Stuessel of Alma Center, and Jayne (Justin) Shirky of West Salem; four great-grandsons, Jake and Levi Stuessel and Jamin and Gavin Shirky; one sister, Loraine Busse of Melrose, and her daughter, Carolyn Busse of La Crosse; and many brothers and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Eileen Schamens and Lois Butler (Clint); his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dan and Luella Hoag. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, with the Rev. John Paul officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sparta." .
