HUDDLESTON, was born on 28 December 1935.760,761 He died on 29 January 2016 at the age of 80.760 Obituary Notes: "On Jan. 29, 2016, Lon Roeske finished his race strong, surrounded by family. Lon was born Dec. 28, 1935, to Elmer and Joyce Roeske. He was the third son of four boys and one daughter. He grew up on a farm near Tomah. Lon graduated from Tomah High School in 1953. He was a state champion boxer, and excelled in football and track. Lon became a U.S. Marine in 1953, and proudly served for four years. During his service, he was aboard the U.S.S Lexington in the Pacific. He was married to Donna Gray in 1955, and they went on to spend 62 years together. During that time, Lon worked in law enforcement for the City of Tomah and Monroe County. He then worked as a claims adjuster for Rural Mutual Insurance for 47 years. Lon’s passions included woodworking, house maintenance and taking care of his family. Lon’s survivors include two brothers, Fred and Chuck Roeske, and one sister, Zan Pierce, all of Tomah. He is also survived by his wife, Donna; and three children, Cal (Melissa) Roeske of Eagen, Minn., Jad (Julie) Roeske of Eau Claire, Wis., and Roi (Dan) Gluch of Eau Claire. Lon was blessed with eight grandchildren, including, Elizabeth, Rachel, Gabe, Hannah and Sam Roeske, as well as McKye, Paxton and Breely Gluch. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; and one brother, Elmer Roeske Jr. A time of remembrance will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Westby. The family would like to specially thank the Pedretti family, Pastor Demke, many loving neighbors, such as Richard and Kaylene Nelson, Justin and Megan Raar, the Hurtels, and Ron Nelson. We also want to thank Dr. Michael Ojalabe, Laura Wiedman RN, and all the staff at the Oncology department at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.
