Obituary Notes: "Daran S. Burnstad, age 59, of Tomah, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 17, 2021 at his home. He was born September 7, 1961 to Eugene and Karyl (Moseley) Burnstad.

At age 16, he met his future wife, Leanne Decorah. They were married on May 23, 1980 at the age of 18. Not only were they best friends, but they were also soul mates. Daran spent the majority of his life on the farm, but most recently had been working at Usemco.

Daran never met a person who didn’t like him, he was loved by everyone and always welcomed people with open arms, no judgments. Daran was an extremely hard worker and passed this trait on to his three children. From trail riding, to roping, he had a love for all horses, especially Wrangler, his blue roan stud horse; he found great solace in caring for them. Together, Leanne and Daran loved to dance, often to “Cotton Eye Joe.” His infectious laugh and infamous headbob when dancing will be missed by his family, but his legacy will live on.

He is survived by his wife, Leanne; children, Chad (Tegan) Burnstad, Nicole (Mitch) Kimpton, and Brock (Jasmine) Burnstad; grandchildren, Makenzie, Hope, Willow and Liam Burnstad, and Gaige Chinnock, and one more on the way; his mother, Karyl; siblings, Sarah Woodard, Sue (Slavko) Malinowski, Drew (Jodi) Burnstad, Syd (Dana) Sawrey, Stacey Burnstad, and Shana Burnstad. He is further survived by his beloved 2017 Ford F-350, “Precious”, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene; brother, Dana Burnstad; nephew, Michael Fanning; granddaughter, Bella Burnstad; niece, Miranda Decorah; mother-in-law, Freida Decorah; father-in-law, Calvin Decorah; sister-in-law, Eileen Decorah; and brother-in-law, Steve Woodard.

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Thursday. The Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah is assisting the family with arrangements."
