6. Ronald Alfred "Ron" OLSEN was born on 7 January 1940 in Clifton Township, Monroe County, WI.10,19 He died on 22 November 2011 at the age of 71 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.19

Obituary Notes: "Ronald A. Olsen, 71, of Tomah, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at the Serenity House in Tomah. He was born Jan. 7, 1940, to Neil and Bernice (Bartels) Olsen in the township of Clifton. He was baptized into the Christian faith and confirmed in May of 1956 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tomah. He was a member of the Tomah High School graduating class of 1958. Ron proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On Oct. 28, 1967, Ron was united in marriage to Joan Roscovius at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. He owned and operated Olsen’s Mobile Feed Service for over 40 years and then worked as a greeter for Walmart until his retirement in 2010. Ronald served on the Tomah City Council for over 20 years and served on several committees including: Lake, Finance and Budget. He recently was serving on the Community Development Block Grant Committee. Ron was a former member of the Tomah Area Credit Union board of directors. He was a faithful member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church and served as an elder. He was a member of the Grassman-Sowle-Larsen-Senz American Legion Post No. 201. He enjoyed working with his hands, especially woodworking or in his garden. He also enjoyed feeding birds and bird watching. Ron never met a stranger and enjoyed meeting new people and visiting with his friends. He was a hard and dedicated worker and was a good provider. Ron was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son and brother.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Joan, of Tomah; two sons, Steven (Eve) of Stevens Point and David (Sue) of Sparta; four grandchildren, Cody and Jason Janis, Carly Olsen and Aryka Mortek; a great-granddaughter, Lily Janis; his mother, Bernice Olsen of Tomah; two brothers, Ed (Judie) Olsen of Tomah and Ken (fiancée Margaret Taylor) Olsen of Tomah; three brothers-in-law, Robert (Sue) Roscovius of Kansas, Merle (Cheryl) Roscovius of Tomah and Richard Emden of Madison; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Waege of Tomah and Alice Prechel of Westby; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Neil; a grandson, Kaleb Olsen; mother- and father-in-law, Ella and Edgar Roscovius; two sisters–in-law, Liz Olsen and Lorna Emden; and two brothers-in-law, Norbert Prechel and Robert Waege.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 525 Superior Ave., Tomah. Pastor David Brandt officiated. Burial was in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery with military honors by the Grassman-Sowle-Larsen-Senz American Legion Post No. 201."

Ronald Alfred "Ron" OLSEN and Joan ROSCOVIUS were married on 28 October 1967 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.8,19,20 Joan ROSCOVIUS, daughter of Edgar Rudolph ROSCOVIUS and Ella Alma ROSENOW, was born on 14 November 1945.20,21 She graduated in 1963 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.21,22 from Tomah High School. She died on 30 April 2015 at the age of 69 in Rochester, Olmstead County, MN.20

Obituary Notes: "Joan Olsen, 69, of Tomah died Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. She was born Nov. 14, 1945, to Edgar and Ella (Rosenow) Roscovius. She was baptized into the Christian faith Dec. 9, 1945, and confirmed in 1959, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tomah. She was a member of the Tomah High School Graduating Class of 1963.

On Oct. 28, 1967, Joan was united in marriage to Ron Olsen, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death Nov. 22, 2011. She was a faithful member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Tomah, and a member of the Esther Circle. She was a member of the I-dividers snowmobile club. Joan was an excellent cook and had a knack for making desserts and she was always willing to try new recipes; she will be remembered for keeping an immaculate household. She had a fun personality and could always find a way to giggle. Joan‘s family and friends were always most important to her; you could find her on the phone almost every day talking with someone in her family or her friends. She was a proud grandmother and loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Joan was always ready to listen and could be counted on to be your rock.

She is survived by two sons, Steven (Eve) of Stevens Point, and David (Sue) of Sparta; four grandchildren, Cody and Jason Janis, Carly Olsen and Aryka Mortek; a great-granddaughter, Lily Janis; and a great-grandson, Carter Janis; her mother-in-law, Bernice Olsen of Tomah; a brother, Merle (Cheryl) Roscovius of Tomah; two sisters, Arlene Waege of Tomah, and Alice Prechel of Westby; three brothers-in-law, Ed (Judie) Olsen of Tomah, Ken (Sue) Olsen of Tomah, and Richard Emden of Madison; a sister-in-law, Sue Roscovius of Kansas; nieces, nephews; other relatives and many lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; her parents, Ella and Edgar Roscovius; a grandson, Kaleb Olsen; a father-in-law, Neil Olsen; a brother, Robert; a sister, Lorna Emden; and a sister-in-law, Liz Olsen; and two brothers-in-law, Norbert Prechel and Robert Waege.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 525 Superior Ave., Tomah. Pastor David T. Brandt will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery."
