15. George A. PREUSS was born on 26 January 1925 in Plymouth Township, Juneau County, WI.6,24 He appeared in the census in 1930 in Plymouth Township, Juneau County, WI.6 He died on 22 February 2010 at the age of 85 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.24

Obituary Notes: "George A. Preuss, 85, of Clifton, passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at Close To Home in Tomah. He was born Jan. 26, 1925, to August and May (Kopenhafer) Preuss in the township of Plymouth in Juneau County. He was baptized and confirmed in Peace Lutheran Church at Elroy. He was united in marriage to Carol Woolever on Oct. 16, 1948, at Peace Lutheran Church in Elroy. Together in 1950 they moved to the farm on Dorset Ridge, near Wilton, where they continued to farm for 40 years. In 1989 they purchased their retirement home near Clifton.

George was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, traveling and camping. He enjoyed reading about guns, hunting and wild animals, and listening to country music and polkas. George was a devoted and faithful member of Fountain Lutheran Church. He was a member of the NRA and North American Hunting Club. He and his sons received Outstanding Cooperator for Monroe County Soil and Water Conservation Ward in 1977. George was also a member of the Clifton Sportsman’s Club. He became ill in 1996 and was very limited to activities. His wife Carol cared for him for many years before entering Close To Home at Tomah in July 2008.

He is survived by his dedicated wife of 61 years, Carol of Clifton; his children, Joy (Jim) Bever of Wilton, Betty “Jean” Anderson of Scottsville, VA, William “Bill” (Lisa) Preuss of Wilton and Nancy “Jo” (Bob) Taylor of Omro; a daughter-in-law, Beth Zweifel of New Lisbon; a sister, Gladys Gloede of Wilton; a brother, Herman (Nadine) of Elroy; a sister-in-law, Margaret Preuss of La Crosse; a brother-in-law, Lester (Rita) Woolever of LaValle; grandchildren: Marie and Becky Preuss, Dan and Jaime Bever, Genevieve, Jasmine and Jonathan Brown, Emily Anderson, Jessi (Joe) Moss, Ryan Preuss, Matthew (Elizabeth) Hanson, Sara (Ryan) Hellerud, Cole Allen; great-grandchildren: Aiden Gratz, Mason and Hudson Moss, Camryn and Nolan Hanson, Breanna and Isaac Hellerud; nine step-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son David Preuss, son-in-law Dale Anderson, brother Eldon Preuss, sister Aldine Boeder, two brothers-in-law Ray Gloede and Norbert Boeder.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. at Fountain Lutheran Church in the Town of Fountain. Pastor Russell T. Trachte will officiate. Burial will be in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery in the Town of Clifton.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, Tomah, and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of the service."

PREUSS and Carol WOOLEVER were married on 16 October 1948 in Elroy, Plymouth Township, Juneau County, WI.24,25,26,27 Carol WOOLEVER, daughter of Edwin WOOLEVER and Iva DOERING, was born on 11 March 1928 in LaValle Township, Sauk County, WI.28 She died on 19 January 2004 at the age of 75 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.28

Obituary Notes: "Carol L. Preuss, 85, of Clifton entered her heavenly home Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at Close to Home in Tomah after a short battle of cancer. Carol was born March 11, 1928, to Edwin and Iva (Deoring) Woolever in Sauk County in the township of LaValle. She graduated from Wonewoc High School in 1946. She attended Sauk County Normal School where she graduated in 1948, and began her teaching career.

Carol was united in marriage to George Preuss Oct. 16, 1948, at Peace Lutheran Church in Elroy. They lived near LaValle before they started farming in 1950, on Dorset Ridge near Wilton, where they lived for 40 years. In 1989, they purchased their retirement home near Clifton. In 1993, she retired from teaching after 41 years, 31 of those in the EKW school district at Elroy. After retiring from teaching Carol worked in the food department at “Night Pasture” in Clifton, until she became “care giver” for her husband, George for several years.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Her hobbies included gardening, both vegetables and flowers, traveling and camping. She enjoyed reading and doing word finds. She liked to decorate her home for the holidays, especially Christmas. She truly enjoyed baking her famous Christmas cut-out cookies for her family, that will truly be missed. Carol was an active member of Fountain Lutheran Church. She served on the church council as a secretary for two terms and was a member of the Sarah Circle.

Carol is survived by one son, William “Bill” (Lisa), of Wilton; three daughters, Joy (Jim) Bever of Wilton, Betty “Jeannie” Anderson of Scottsville, Va., and Nancy “Jo” (Bob) Taylor of Omro; a daughter-in-law, Beth Zweifel Preuss of New Lisbon; 13 grandchildren, Marie Preuss, Becky (Troy) Pribnow, Dan Bever, Jamie Bever, Genevieve Brown, Jasmine Brown, Jonathan Brown, Emily Anderson, Jessica (Joe) Moss, Ryan (Allie) Preuss, Matthew (Elizabeth) Hanson, Sara (Ryan) Hellerud, and Cole Allen; great-grandchildren, Camryn and Nolan Hanson, Mason and Hudson Moss, Aiden Gratz, Breanna Hellerud, Brock Bever, and Hazel Truesdale. Carol is further survived by a brother, Lester (Rita) Woolever; a brother-in-law, Herman (Nadine) Preuss; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Gloede, and Margaret Preuss; many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Feb. 22, 2010; her parents; a son, David Preuss; a son-in-law, Dale Anderson; an infant sister, Evelyn Woolever; brothers-in-law, Eldon Preuss, Norbert Boeder, Raymond Gloede; and a sister-in-law, Adeline Boeder."
