2. August Ferdinand Albert PREUSS was born on 18 October 1861 in Kortenthin, Pommern (Pomerania) Province, Preussen (Prussia).^1,3 (The month of his birth is not clear in the 1900 Census.) He emigrated in 1888 from Preussen (Prussia).⁴ He appeared in the census in 1900 in Wonewoc Township, Juneau County, WI.³ His occupation was listed as "Stone Mason." August appeared in the census in 1910 in Plymouth Township, Juneau County, WI.⁴ His occupation was listed as "Farmer & Stone Mason." He appeared in the census in 1920 in Plymouth Township, Juneau County, WI.⁵ His occupation was listed as "Farm Manager." He appeared in the census in 1930 in Elroy, Plymouth Township, Juneau County, WI.⁶ His household was on Academy Street and his occupation was "Stone Mason, Building." August died on 21 May 1934 at the age of 72 in Elroy, Plymouth Township, Juneau County, WI.¹

August Ferdinand Albert PREUSS and Bertha Louisia LEIST were married on 13 June 1892 in Elroy, Plymouth Township, Juneau County, WI.^2,3,4 (According to the 1900 Census, they had 4 children, of whom all were living at the time. In the 1910 Census, they had 8 children, of whom all were living at the time. And, according to the 1920 Census, this was his second marriage.)

(The 1930 Census of Plymouth Township, Juneau County, WI contains the individual households of Arthur R., August F. and Henry M. Preuss, who were listed as ages 38, 37 and 34, respectively. There was also a Richard Preuss, age 39, in the 1920 Census. They may have been his sons from his first marriage.) Bertha Louisia LEIST was born in November 1870 in Preussen (Prussia).³ She emigrated in 1888 from Preussen (Prussia).⁵ She appeared in the census in 1900 in Wonewoc Township, Juneau County, WI.³ Bertha appeared in the census in 1910 in Plymouth Township, Juneau County, WI.⁴ She appeared in the census in 1920 in Plymouth Township, Juneau County, WI.⁵ She appeared in the census in 1930 in Elroy, Plymouth Township, Juneau County, WI.⁶ Bertha died on 2 June 1943 at the age of 72 in Elroy, Plymouth Township, Juneau County, WI.²
