Descendants of Michael Protz

Michael Protz was born in Prussia in the 1820’s. He and his wife, Hanna Priem, were the parents of Christopher “Christ” Protz, who married Amelia Liege in 1876.

Christ and Amelia emigrated to America in about 1890 with their seven oldest children, and had three more after their arrival in Jackson and Monroe counties.

Michael’s grandchildren married into families such as Rosenow, Schulz, Braun, Anderson, Pennewell, and Opheim.

All of the Protz families in Monroe County descend from Michael and Hanna.
