4. August Ludwig "Louis" RAABE Sr. was born on 28 July 1847 in Alt Rudnitz, Neumark, Brandenburg Province, Preussen (Prussia).^5,7,10 (He was listed as age 23 in the 1870 Census and as 32 in the 1880 Census, indicating a birth year of about 1847.)

(He was referred to as "August" in a Heritage Book article written by his granddaughter, Martha Reeck.)

. He emigrated in 1867 from Preussen (Prussia).⁵ He appeared in the census in 1870 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.² He was living with his parents and his occupation was "Farm Laborer."

. Louis appeared in the census in 1880 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.⁴ He was listed as "Ludwig" and his household was next door to that of his parents. His occupation was "Farmer." He appeared in the census in 1900 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.⁵ He died in 1941 at the age of 94.¹¹ Louis was buried in 1941 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.¹¹ in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

August Ludwig "Louis" RAABE Sr. and Christena Berta "Christine" PFETSCHER were married on 17 May 1875 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.^7,8,12 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Their witnesses were Christian Friedrich Raabe, one of his brothers, and Ludwig Pfetscher, one of her brothers.

Christena Berta "Christine" PFETSCHER, daughter of Karl Wilhelm PFETSCHER and Anna Katharina Fredericka MONCH, was born on 15 October 1856 in Ohio.^2,7,13 (In the 1860 and 1870 Census records, she was listed as "Bertha.") She appeared in the census in 1860 in Holmes Township, Crawford County, OH.¹³ She appeared in the census in 1870 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.² Christine was confirmed on 26 March 1871 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.⁷ at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She appeared in the census in 1880 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.⁴ She was listed as "Bertha." She died in 1925 at the age of 69.
