Descendants of Michael Roeder

Michael Roeder and his wife, Marianne Jeske were born in the former Posen Province of Prussia in the 1770's. The area is now part of Poland.

One of their sons, Christian Roeder, and his wife, Anna "Julia" Torner, were born in Posen in the early-1800’s. They and their nine children emigrated to America in July 1857 and settled in Tomah Township. Their children married into families such as Werner, Boorhanna, Bernhardt, Schwantz, Kaler, Butterfuss, Deuchler/Deichler, Henry, Bering and Bartels.

Christian and Anna are believed to have been the ancestors of all of the known Roeder families in Monroe County.
