Elba Heinrich "Ellie" MARTEN was born on 18 March 1905 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.6,33,34,54 He was baptized on 9 April 1905.54 He appeared in the census in 1905 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.16 Ellie appeared in the census in 1910 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.6 He died on 17 February 1980 at the age of 74 in La Crosse, La Crosse County, WI.33,55 He was buried on 20 February 1980 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.33,55 in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Elba Heinrich "Ellie" MARTEN and Mayme MATZKE were married.55,56 Mayme MATZKE, daughter of Friedrich Karl Heinrich "Henry" MATZKE and Martha REPKE, was born on 16 May 1912 in Wisconsin.57 She died on 10 January 1984 at the age of 71 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.57

Kenneth Elba MARTEN was born on 8 November 1930 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.58 He was baptized on 22 February 1931 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.58 He died on 5 October 2007 at the age of 76 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.14

Obituary Notes: "Kenneth E. Marten, 76, of Tomah, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, at the Serenity House in Tomah. He was born Nov. 8, 1930, to Elba and Mayme (Matzke) Marten on the family farm. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Ridgeville. He worked for 43 years at Van Pak until his retirement. He loved to hunt and fish. Kenneth was a faithful member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his sister, Lois (“Doc” Stout) Christiano of Tomah; a sister-in-law, Mary Marten of Tomah; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Verlyn “Bert” Marten.

Funeral services were held today (Monday), Oct. 8, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 525 Superior Ave., Tomah. Pastor Donald R. Buch officiated. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah.

Relatives and friends called at the church today from 10 a.m. until time of the service.

The Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements."
