He may have been a brother of Francis Rogge, who was listed in the 1870 Census in La Crosse, La Crosse County, WI. Francis was age 37 (born about 1833), occupation "Teamster," and also born in Hanover. He and his wife, Catherine, and their four children lived in the 2nd Ward in La Crosse. He emigrated in 1857 from Hanover, Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) Province, Preussen (Prussia).^1,3,5,6 He emigrated from Bremen and arrived in New York on 5 June 1857. He appeared in the census in 1870 in Oakdale Township, Monroe County, WI.⁷ His surname was listed as "Rogga" and his occupation was "Farmer." Henry served in the military before 1880.⁸ He received a pension of $6 per month after March 1881 for "wound of scalp; residual disease of brain."
