6. Berthold Alexander "Alex" ROSCOVIUS was born on 13 June 1879 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.1,40 (His given name is listed as Alla in the 1880 Census.) He served in the military about 1898 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.41 as a Private in Company K of the 3rd Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. His unit served in Puerto Rico, leaving on April 28th, 1898 and returning home on September 18th, 1898. The unit was based in the Winnebago County area of Wisconsin. He appeared in the census in 1910 in Snohomish County, WA.42 His occupation was listed as "Farmer." Alex appeared in the census in 1930 in Snohomish County, WA.43 His occupation was "Rural Mail Carrier." He died on 15 November 1952 at the age of 73 in Everett, Snohomish County, WA.40

Obituary Notes: "Alexander Roscovius was born 6/13/1879 in Tomah, Wi. Died 11/15/1952 in Everett, Wa. Mr. Roscovius came to this area in 1905, he leaves his wife Nellie S.& 2 daughters Sister Mary Helen of Miles City, Mt., Mrs Louis Gilday of Everett, 1 son Robert of E. Stanwood, 6 grandchildren & 2 brothers Henry & Alfred; 2 sisters Mrs. Laura Utke of Tomah, Wi., Mrs Emma Limp of Wilton, Wi.. Burial 11/19/1952 at Mt. Carmel Cem." He was buried on 19 November 1952 in Snohomish County, WA.40 in the Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery.

Berthold Alexander "Alex" ROSCOVIUS and Nellie E. EDWARDS were married on 14 March 1909 in Snohomish County, WA.40 Nellie E. EDWARDS was born on 21 January 1881 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.40 (The 1910 Census listed her birth place as Illinois, but her obituary listed it as Tomah.) She appeared in the census in 1910 in Snohomish County, WA.42 She appeared in the census in 1930 in Snohomish County, WA.43 Nellie died in September 1965 at the age of 84 in Everett, Snohomish County, WA.40

Obituary Notes: "Nellie E. Roscovius, 84, of 2412 Baker Ave. and formerly of the Forbes Hill area, died in a local hospital Tuesday morning following an extended illness. Mrs. Roscovius was born in Tomah,Wi. 1/21/1881, and has resided in Everett since 1918.

She held a lifetime teaching certificate in the State of Washington, having taught at Edgecomb and at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated at Perpetual Help Church Friday at 9:30 a.m. Rosary will be said at the Cassidy Furneral Home Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cem. Honorary casket bearers will include Carey Raymond, Dr. John Flynn, A.J. Fuchs, Burnell Larson, John Mitchke, Otto Mobius, Frank Schmid. Active casketbearers will include Charles Buennagle, Louis Burke, John D. Clarke, Duane Gainer, Robert LaGrandeur, Albert Oczkewicz. The family requests that friends may make contributions to the Nellie E. Roscovius Memorial Fund to Assist Needy School Children." She was buried in Snohomish County, WA.40 in the Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery.
