Rudolph ROSCOVIUS was born on 10 April 1841 in Kreis Saale-Holzland, Thuringia Region, Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).^1,2,3,4,5 (In the baptism record for his daughter Clara, his surname was spelled "Roskovius." In the 1880 Census, his name was listed as "Rudalph Roscovisa."] He emigrated in 1872 from Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).^6,7,8 He was Lutheran about 1872 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.^9,10 He was listed in the Church Register as member number 34 of the first 100 members of the congregation of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and was listed on the Memberbership Roster in 1900. He was then one of the first twenty-five members of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tomah. About 1880 Rudolph was a carpenter, wagon maker and railroad worker in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.^1,11 He appeared in the census in 1910 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.⁸ He died on 12 May 1915 at the age of 74 in Reels Valley, Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.^2,3,5 Rudolph was buried on 14 May 1915 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.^2,5 in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Rudolph ROSCOVIUS and Auguste MATTHEWS were married about 1870 in Preussen (Prussia).^8,11 The 1910 Census indicated that they had been married 40 years and had 10 children, of whom 9 were still living. Auguste MATTHEWS was born on 16 December 1847 in Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).^2,3,12 She emigrated in 1872 from Posen Province, Preussen (Prussia).⁶ She appeared in the census in 1910 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.⁸ Auguste died on 20 October 1915 at the age of 67 in Reels Valley, Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.^2,3 She was buried on 23 October 1915 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.^2,12 in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery.
