Francis Peter "Frank" RYDER was born on 13 July 1848 in Merton, Waukesha County, WI.^2,12,18 He lived at his family home in Oconomowoc Township, Waukesha County, WI in June 1860.¹² He appeared in the census in 1870 in Big Flats Township, Adams County, WI.⁵ His occupation was listed as "Farmer." In 1873 Frank was a farmer in Lincoln Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁸

Francis Peter "Frank" RYDER and Mary Elizabeth "Liz" GILLETTE were married on 12 January 1873 in Lincoln Township, Monroe County, WI.^2,18 Their witnesses were Alonzo Gillett and Mary J. Rider (his sister). Mary Elizabeth "Liz" GILLETTE, daughter of William Abrigen GILLETTE and Juliette HEAD, was born in June 1848 in Wisconsin.^19,20 (The 1850 Census listed her as age 2, so she was probably born in 1848. The 1900 Census listed her birth date as June 1843 and her birth place as New York.) She appeared in the census in 1900 in Delavan, Walworth County, WI.²⁰ (She was living next door to Abigail Vandervort Flint at 608 Geneva Street.)
