1. Charles Willett RYDER was born on 12 October 1820 in New York.1,2,3 (His surname is believed to have been spelled "Ryder" although the marriage license of his daughter Mary Jane uses the spelling "Rider".) He lived in Waukesha County, WI about 1844.1,4 About 1850 he was a wagon train driver on gold trains between California and South Dakota.2 Charles appeared in the census in 1870 in Big Flats Township, Adams County, WI.5 His occupation was listed as "Blacksmith." He died about 1875 at the age of 55 in Deadwood, Lawrence County, SD.1,2 He was the victim of an ambush while driving a wagon train between California and South Dakota. He was buried in Deadwood, Lawrence County, SD.2

Charles Willett RYDER and Sarah Ann W. "Sally" MOON were married about 1846.1,6,7 Sarah Ann W. "Sally" MOON, daughter of Jacob MOON and Mary BAKER, was born on 2 July 1826 in Blenheim Township, Schoharie County, NY.2,8,9,10,11,12,13 (Her given name may have been Sarah Ann.) She appeared in the census in 1840 in Blenheim Township, Schoharie County, NY.11 She lived at her home in Oconomowoc Township, Waukesha County, WI in June 1860.12 with her children Francis, Mary and Charles. Her husband, Charles, is not listed as living with the family, nor are their older children Peter and Mary Jane. Both of the children are believed to have died as infants. In June 1860 Sally was a weaver in Oconomowoc Township, Waukesha County, WI.12 She appeared in the census in 1870 in Big Flats Township, Adams County, WI.5 She lived at her home in Lincoln Township, Monroe County, WI about 1880.8 They moved to Warrens in 1871 from Waukesha, where she had lived since she was 18 years old. Sally appeared in the census in 1880 in Lincoln Township, Monroe County, WI.9 She was living with her daughter Mary Jane and her husband. She appeared in the census in 1900 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.14 She was living with her daughter Mary Jane and her family. She died on 26 December 1904 at the age of 78 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.1,2,8,15,16 Sally was buried after 26 December 1904 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.16,17 in the LaGrange Township Cemetery.

Peter Samuel RYDER was born on 15 January 1847.2 He died before June 1900 at the age of 53 in Waukesha County, WI.1,2,5,14 at an early age. (He was not listed with his parents in the 1870 Census.)
