Descendants of John de Savage (Savage)

John de Savage and his wife, Elisabeth Sabran, were born in Normandy, France before the year 1000. He was the 17th great-grandfather of Thomas Savage, who, along with his wife, Elisabeth Darcy were born in England in the 1580's.

One of the grandsons of Thomas and Elisabeth was Captain John Savage I, who was born in 1620 in England and is believed to have been the first member of the Savage family that emigraged to America. He and his wife, Elizabeth Dubbin, were the parents of eleven children—the oldest of whom was Captain John Savage II.

One of John II's descendants was Susan Lucretia Savage, who married Daniel Crane Purdy in 1846 in New York state. They then moved their family to Greenfield Township in about 1860. Altogether, they had seven children. The children married into families such as Kinne, Dickinson, Oakley, Heser and Brown..
