Johann Friedrich Theodor "Frederick" SCHLUENZ was born on 23 August 1823 in Tarnow, Mecklenburg-Schwerin Province, Preussen (Prussia).^3,4,5,6,7 (The Monroe County Heritage Book lists his birth year as 1820 and the FamilySearch.org website lists his birthplace as Boitin, Butzow, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Prussia.))

(His surname is spelled "Schluenz" in the St. John's, Ridgeville, Parish Register of families; in some other sources it is spelled as "Schleunz;" his gravestone spells it "Schlentz;" and it is spelled "Schlintz" in the information of some of his descendants.). He appeared in the census in 1880 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.⁴ His occupation was "Farmer." (His surname was spelled "Schluntz.")

He died on 19 May 1884 at the age of 60 in Tunnel City, Greenfield Township, Monroe County, WI.³ Frederick was baptized on 24 August 1923 in Boitin, Butzow, Mecklenburg-Schwerin Province, Preussen (Prussia).⁷ He was buried in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.³ in the Worden and Burroughs Famiily Cemetery.

Johann Friedrich Theodor "Frederick" SCHLUENZ and Sophia "Sophie" BOLDT were married in 1854 in Watertown Township, Jefferson County, WI.^1,5,8,9 Sophie and her five step-children settled in Watertown, WI after arriving in America. They remained with Sophia after her marriage to Frederick Schluenz and were raised as their own children.

Sophia remained on the farm with her youngest son, Alexander, after Frederick's death. When Alex left the farm, she moved with Christina to Sparta, Monroe County, WI. When Christina married and moved to Chicago in 1894, Sophia took turns living with her other children.

. Sophia "Sophie" BOLDT was born on 18 March 1829 in Strelitz, Mecklenburg-Strelitz Province, Preussen (Prussia).^3,4,5 (The church marriage record of her son Heinrich listed her maiden name as "Bolt.")
