Descendants of Joachim Heinrich Schluenz

Joachim Heinrich Schluenz and his wife Marie Sophia Evert were born in the Mecklenburg-Schwerin Province of Prussia in about 1760. One of their eight children was Johann Juergen Schluenze, who was born in December, 1797.

Johann and his wife, Maria Elisabeth Schmidt, had a son, Johann Friedrich Theodor Schluenz, who married Sophia “Sophie” Boldt, and emigrated to America in the early-1850’s with their oldest children. They lived first in Jefferson County and then in Wilton Township, where the rest of their nine children were born.

The children married into families such as Schmalz, Gehrke. Gossfeldt and Hoffman.

All of the Schluenz families in Monroe County descend from Joachim and Marie.
