69. Helen LINEHAN was born on 27 October 1917 in Monroe County, WI.66 She died on 21 October 2009 at the age of 91 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.66

Obituary Notes: "Helen M. Kennedy, 91, of Tomah, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Oct. 27, 1917, to Mike and Anna (Schmeider) Linehan in Monroe County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and was a devoted member of St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She graduated from Tomah Senior High School in 1935. Helen grew up in the Reels Valley area. On July 30, 1946, she was united in marriage to Harley Kennedy at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tomah. Father Bruedderman performed the ceremony.

Helen worked at the Tomah Cash Store and the Central Hardware Store for a short time, before going to work at Fort McCoy as a bookkeeper and later worked in Food Service at the VA Medical Center in Tomah until her retirement. She enjoyed baking and cooking. Helen enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She always looked forward to Sundays which was called Grandma’s Day.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Harley; two daughters, Joann (Chuck) Cleveland and Colleen (Gene) Richer, both of Tomah, and a son, Rick (Beverly) Kennedy of Tomah; nine grandchildren, Scott (Arlin) Holder, Jason Holder, Justina (Jamie) Wilson, Tracey Turner, Mark (Amanda) Richer, Travis Richer, Kari (Brian) Marx, Gina Kennedy, and Megan Kennedy; 21 greatgrandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Cartner of Madison

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ellen; two sisters, Francis Bailey and Anna Mae Linehan; a brother, Michael; two sisters-in-law, Lola Wabrowetz and Helen Linehan, and two brothers-in-law, Bernard Bailey and Ed Wabrowetz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Tomah. The Very Rev. Steven J. Kachel will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., Tomah, and at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of the Mass. A parish rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home."

Helen LINEHAN and Harley V. KENNEDY were married on 30 July 1946 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.23,66,67 Harley V. KENNEDY, son of Alvah Wilburt KENNEDY and Tressie Ellen GOFF, was born on 30 July 1921 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.67,68 He graduated in 1942 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.67,68 from Tomah High School. He died on 5 August 2014 at the age of 93 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.67

Obituary Notes: "Harley V.Kennedy, 93, of Tomah died Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Tomah Memorial Hospital. He was born on July 30, 1921 to Alvah and Tressie (Goff) Kennedy in Tomah. He was a member of the Tomah High School Graduating Class of 1942.

On July 30,1946 he was united in marriage to Helen Linehan at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tomah. Father Bruedderman performed the ceremony. She preceded him in death on October 21, 2009. He farmed most of his life in the Tomah area. In April of 1969, Harley started working for Monroe County in the Highway Department/Road Maintenance. After working for 16 years with Monroe County, Harley retired, but continued working on the farm. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. Together, Harley and Helen traveled thousands of miles throughout the United States, exploring new places and meeting new people. He was a member of the Good Sam Camping Club, the Knights of Columbus and a faithful and devoted member of St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Although they spent time away from home, Harley always enjoyed coming home to spend time with his family and share his stories of the road. Spending time with his grandchildren always brought a special joy to his heart, whether it was camping up North or the Sunday “Grandma and Grandpa” Day, Harley cherished all those times shared. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.

He is survived by two daughters, Joann (Chuck) Cleveland and Colleen (Gene) Richer both of Tomah and a son Rick (Beverly) Kennedy, of Tomah; nine grandchildren Scott (Arlin) Holder, Jason (Jenny) Holder, Justina (Jamie) Wilson, Tracey (Luke) Erickson, Mark Richer, Travis (Emily Wall) Richer, Kari (Brian) Marx, Gina Kennedy, and Megan (Jamie) Sweda; 20 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Cartner of Waunakee, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Helen, a daughter Ellen, a great grandson, Phillip Richer and a sister, Lola Wabrowetz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 11, 2014, 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Tomah. Monsignor Richard W. Gilles will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery."
