161 | i. | Anne Elizabeth SCHMIEDER was born about 1951 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.63 She died on 17 February 2013 at the age of 62 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.63 Obituary Notes: "Anne Elizabeth Schmieder, 62, was elevated by angels to a peaceful place on Feb. 17, 2013, surrounded by a circle of loving family at Serenity House in Tomah, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Anne was the daughter of Mary C. (Kieffer) and LaVerne Schmieder. Born in Sparta, and raised in Mauston, Anne lived most of her adult life in the Tomah area. The many years of work and activities at Handishop Industries gave her the opportunity to feel a sense of accomplishment and grow lifelong friendships. Annie’s sense of humor and infectious smile brought joy to family, friends, and strangers alike. Card playing, travel, and spending time with her family were Anne’s true pleasures. She enjoyed music, dancing, bowling, movies, working math problems, and coloring. She will be remembered for her flare for colorful clothing and adorning jewelry. Anne taught us, by example, to accept and appreciate others as they are. She is survived by her twin sister, Joan Pasewald, sisters, Barbara Shaw, Marie Schmieder (Wayne Bellas), Patricia Schmieder (Leo Babeu), Judith (Douglas) Harpenau; and brothers, John (Valerie) Schmieder and Gregory (Pamela) Schmieder. She is also survived by Uncle Fr. Lawrence Kieffer and Aunt Rita Kieffer; and many nieces and nephews,: Karen (Dustin) Pocernich, Teresa (Steve) Mertens, Kenneth, Debbie, and Diane Pasewald, Erin Schmieder, Victoria Bellas, Lecia Babeu and Alex, Stephanie, and Ben Harpenau, Travis (Sarah) Schreiber and Lucas (Barbara) Schreiber, Jamie Shaw, Bobbi (Craig) Skare, Jeff Shaw, Desiree (Ronald) Jarman; a grand-niece and grand-nephews. She is also survived by the many friends and caregivers whose life she shared at the numerous homes where she resided. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary C. and LaVerne Schmieder; and brother, Nicholas; brother-in-law, Lloyd Shaw; and sister-in-law, Nan (Pelton) Schmieder. A celebration of life Mass was held Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tomah, with Monsignor Richard Gilles officiating.
