1. Johannis Josephus "John" SCHNEBERGER¹ was born about 1816 in Preussen (Prussia).^1,2 He was listed as age 44 in the 1860 Census. His surname was listed as "Schneberger" and his birthplace was Prussia. His occupation appears to be "Saloon & Eating House." He emigrated about 1852 from Preussen (Prussia).² According to the 1860 Census, his three oldest children were born in Prussia, and his daughter Eliza was born in Ohio in 1853. So he and his family probably emigrated in 1851 or 1852.) He appeared in the census in 1860 in Hubbard Township, Dodge County, WI.² John died before June 1870 at the age of 54 in Wisconsin.³ (He apparently died before June 1870, because Barbara was married to Mike Rock in the 1870 Census.)

Johannis Josephus "John" SCHNEBERGER and Barbara REIS were married about 1840 in Preussen (Prussia).⁴ Barbara REIS was born on 4 July 1823 in Krov, Kreis Bernkastel-Wittlich, Rhineland-Palatinate Province, Preussen (Prussia).^1,5,6,7 (She was listed as age 57 in the 1880 Census.)

(According to the 1880 Census record of her son, John, she was born in Prussia; in the 1900 and 1910 records, her birthplace was listed as Germany.) She was christened on 6 July 1823 in Krov, Kreis Bernkastel-Wittlich, Rhineland-Palatinate Province, Preussen (Prussia).¹ She emigrated about 1852 from Preussen (Prussia).² Barbara appeared in the census in 1860 in Hubbard Township, Dodge County, WI.² She appeared in the census in 1870 in Lincoln Township, Monroe County, WI.³ She appeared in the census in 1880 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.⁷ She was living with her second husband, Mike Rock. Also living with them was the family of her son, John.
