He emigrated in 1858 from Preussen (Prussia).2 He appeared in the census in 1860 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.3 John was confirmed on 21 May 1865 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.19 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He lived at his farm in Jacksonville, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI in January 1874.11 He died on 24 June 1908 at the age of 57.4 John was buried in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.13 in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Ida May KIRST, daughter of Gottlieb KIRST and Sophia WIEDEMANN, was born on 8 May 1851 in Kasmar, Sachsen (Saxony) Province, Preussen (Prussia).2,11,20 (The church marriage record lists the year of her birth as 1857; that is believed to have been a transcription error from German to English.) She was confirmed on 21 April 1869 in Ridgeville Township, Monroe County, WI.11 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She appeared in the census in 1870 in Adrian Township, Monroe County, WI.21 Ida died on 17 October 1915 at the age of 64 in Washington, District of Columbia.20 She was buried in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.13 in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
