Descendants of Johann Heinrich Siekert

Johann Heinrich Siekert and his wife, Charlotte Henrietta Schmidt, were born in Prussia in about 1800. Their family of nine children all emigrated to America without their parents, and a few of them eventually settled in Monroe County.

One of the children, Wilhelm Leopold Hermann “William” Siekert married Henriette Mahnke in Pomerania in 1860 and had six children, two of which emigrated to America. After Henriette died in 1877, William married Auguste Haase and they had seven more children.

Several of the children from both families eventually lived in Monroe County and it is believed that nearly all of the Siekert family members in the area descend from William's children.
