Descendants of Michel Sommerfeldt

Michel Sommerfeldt and his wife, Anna Frieske, were born in Prussia in about 1820. Their daughter, Caroline emigrated to America in the 1860’s, and their son, August, in 1883. The children married into the Schroeder and Werner families.

(Some of Michel’s descendants later changed the spelling of their surname to Sommerfield and Summerfield.)

Michel may have been related to Johannes Sommerfeldt, Sr., who was born in Posen Province in the 1830’s. (His descendants are in another report on this website.) The two of them were the ancestors of all of the Sommerfeldt/Sommerfield families in Monroe County.

Michel may also have been related to Wilhelmine Sommerfeldt, who married August Grill.
