Arthur Lavern "Art" ECKELBERG and Sara Sue SOWLE were married on 5 December 1959 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.93,228 Sara Sue SOWLE, daughter of Harold SOWLE and Irene WOODLIFF, was born on 31 July 1941 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee Township, Milwaukee County, WI.93,228 She died on 5 May 2012 at the age of 70 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.228

Obituary Notes: "Sara Sue Eckelberg, 70, of Tomah, died Saturday, May 5, 2012 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born on July 31, 1941 to Harold and Irene (Woodliff) Sowle in Milwaukee. She was a member of the Tomah High School Graduating Class of 1959.

On December 5, 1959, Sara was united in marriage to Art Eckelberg at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Art and Sara had four children, Debbie, Mary, Kathy, and Archie. After high school, Sara held a variety of jobs as a waitress, dental office employee, bookkeeper for the N.F.O and at the Tomah Care Center. She later was employed by the Tomah V.A. Medical Center in the dietary department and retired from there after 31 years of service.

Sara enjoyed family vacations to Wisconsin Dells, bowling, playing golf and bingo. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. The holiday seasons were Sara's favorite time of the year for entertaining family and friends.

Operation Home Front was an organization that was very close to Sara's heart, with her grandson, Jonathan as a member of the military. She dedicated many hours making sure military veterans had a little piece of home with them while serving.

Sara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend and will be sadly missed by those that loved her.

She is survived by husband Arthur "Art" Sr. of Tomah; three children, Arthur "Archie" (Kimberly) Eckelberg, Jr., Mary (Wayne) Johnson and Debbie Christensen all of Tomah; 11 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; her mother, Irene Sowle of Tomah; two sisters, Therese Wegerle-Sowle and Janie (Robert) Hansen of Black River Falls; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; other relative and very dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Sowle; a daughter, Kathy; and nephews, Troy and Cory Eckelberg.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 310 W. Elizabeth St. in Tomah. Pastor David Dahl will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Tomah."
