Descendants of Ludwig Sonnenberg

Ludwig Sonnenberg and his wife, Henriette Klinger, were born in the Posen Province of Prussia in the early-1800's. They married there in about 1854 and had seven children.

After the family emigrated to America, Ludwig and Henriette lived first in New York and then moved to Monroe County. Their three children and their descendants spread throughout the area, and married into familes such as Bartels, Betcher, Drews, Gurske, Guthrie, Gruhlke, Hennarichs, Ludeking, Schultz and Vandervort.

It is possible that Ludwig was related to Friedrich Sonnenburg (note the different surname spelling), who was born about two years before Ludwig, and who had emigrated from Prussia to Monroe County in 1873. Ludwig’s son, Albert John, used the Sonnenburg spelling. (Friedrich's descendants are detailed in another report on this website.)
