136. Bernard Edmund HUBERT was born on 5 June 1925 in Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.28,50,152 He appeared in the census in 1930 in Wilton, Wilton Township, Monroe County, WI.28 He died on 29 October 2014 at the age of 89 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.152

Obituary Notes: "Bernard E. Hubert, 89, of Tomah passed away Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014, at Tomah Memorial Hospital. He was born June 5, 1925, to Herman and Martha (Mistele) Hubert in the Town of Wilton, Monroe County, Wis.

Bernard was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1944. Following his honorable discharge he returned to Tomah. He was united in marriage to Elda “Toodie” Bartels Nov. 27, 1948, at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tomah. Bernard worked for Kennedy Auto and the Railroad. He then worked for Tomah VA Hospital where he retired Sept. 18, 1980.

Together Bernard and Toodie enjoyed years of selling vegetables from the roadside stand outside their home on Hwy. 16. They also sold seed corn to the local farmers and supplied night crawlers and angle worms to five area bait shops. He was a true handyman and could make anything that was broken work again. Bernard also stayed active, hunting, trapping, fishing, camping, playing cards and playing softball. He was an active member of St. Mary’s church and the Knights of Columbus. Bernard was also a member of Tomah VFW Post #1382.

He is survived by his wife, Elda; his children, Stephen (Deanna) Hubert of Albany, Wis., Christine (Eugene Wilde) Hubert of Wilton, Luann (Randy) Kreuziger of Warrens, Wis., Cindy (Dwayne) Eppers of Tomah, and Brian (Teresa) Hubert of Tomah; grandchildren, Cory (Kari) Lenz, Colter (Jennifer) Eppers, Tiffawny (Dean Travis) Eppers, Danielle (Chris) Thousand, Annette (Chad) Trimble, Britnie (Brad) Rewey, Andrea (Lee) Peterson, Travis (Tabitha) Koranda, Tanner (fiance’, Kelly Johnson) Hubert and Ethan Hubert; stepgranddaughter, Trisha Tourdot; great-grandchildren, Cody and Joe Lenz, MaizeeGrace Eppers, Taylee, Tatum and Ty Thousand, London Trimble, Brin and Boe Rewey, Kendall and Gabrielle Peterson; his siblings, Mary Thompson of Scottsdale, Ariz., Lawrence (Barbara) Hubert of West Salem, James (Janyne) Hubert of Pittsburg, Mo., Cecilia “Ceil” Klapproth of Kenosha, Wis., and Elizabeth Rottman of New Port, Minn.; a sister-in-law, Laura Hubert; as well as many nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Martha; his brothers, Jerry, Robert, Ray and John; and sisters, Margaret Mary, Therese and Sister Gabrielle “Monica” Hubert; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John G. and Ella (Gebhardt) Bartels; and several brothers-in-law; and sisters-in-law.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tomah. Mnsgnr. Richard Gilles will officiate. Burial with full militaries by Tomah FVW Post #1382 will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Tomah."
