Keene, 92, of Tomah died Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Tomah Memorial Hospital. She was born Feb. 10, 1920, to Ferdinand and Marie (Rosenow) Wendland in the town of Adrian. She was baptized Feb. 29, 1920, in the Lutheran faith by Pastor Baganz and confirmed on May 14, 1933, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, at Ridgeville by Pastor C. E. Berg. She was united in marriage to Lorenz Keene on Dec. 8, 1940, by Pastor Herbert Schaller at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tomah. Marion and Lorenz farmed in the town of LaGrange for most of their married life. She also worked at Tomah Memorial Hospital for a number of years. She loved to garden, crochet and do needlework and crafts. She was a faithful member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. Marion was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She is survived by a son, Keith L. (Cheryl) of Tomah; a grandson, Kevin (Tatiana) of Minneapolis; a sister, Neta Cunningham of Decatur, Ill.; and a sister-in-law, Inez Boeder of Tomah; other relatives; and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lorenz; a sister, Merdine; two brothers, Harold and Ruben Wendland; and a brother-in-law Marvin Boeder. Relatives and friends are invited to call for visitation Saturday, June 9, 2012, from 5-7 p.m. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., Tomah.
