Alvine "Alvina" SUMMERFELDT was born on 27 December 1860 in Preussen (Prussia).^1,6,7 (Her surname was spelled "Sommerfeld" in the county registration of her marriage to Gustav Auerbach, and as "Summerfield" for her marriage to August Polzin. It is believed to have originally been "Summerfeldt.")

(She was listed as age 37 in the 1900 Census and the 1900 Census listed her birth date as Dec 1866; both are believed to be incorrect because her gravestone lists 1860.)

Family oral history indicates that she was born in Alsace-Lorraine, but that has not been confirmed.

. She emigrated in 1884 from Preussen (Prussia).⁶

. She appeared in the census in 1900 in Norwalk, Monroe County, WI.^1,6 The census record indicates that she had 4 children, of whom all 4 were still living. Alvina appeared in the census in 1905 in Norwalk, Monroe County, WI.^1,11 (Wisconsin State Census)

. She died on 6 September 1906 at the age of 45 in Norwalk, Monroe County, WI.^4,12 She was buried in Norwalk, Monroe County, WI.^1,7 in the Pilgrim's Home Cemetery.

Alvine "Alvina" SUMMERFELDT and Gustav Adolph "Gust" AUERBACH were married on 24 March 1892 in Indian Creek, Oakdale Township, Monroe County, WI.^1,10 at St. Peter's Church.

. Gustav Adolph "Gust" AUERBACH, son of Ehregott F. AUERBACH and Ernstine TARTSCH, was born about 1846 in Sachsen (Saxony) Province, Preussen (Prussia).^3,13 (He was listed as "Augustus" in several census records, so that, not "Gustave," was probably his actual given name.)

. He appeared in the census in 1860 in Clifton Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁴ He was listed as "Augustus," age 14. He appeared in the census in 1870 in Clifton Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁵ He was living next door to his parents, and he was listed as "Augustus," age 22, occupation "Farmer," and born in Saxony. Gust appeared in the census in 1880 in Clifton Township, Monroe County, WI.³ His household consisted of "Gustus," age 34, occupation "Farmer," born in Saxony; his wife, Margaret, age 25, "Keeping House," born in Wisconsin; and their son, George, age 1, born in Wisconsin. According to the Census, both of Gust's parents were also born in Saxony. He died on 10 March 1896 at the age of 50 in Monroe County, WI.¹² He was buried in Clifton Township, Monroe County, WI.¹ in the Clifton Township Cemetery.

Alvine "Alvina" SUMMERFELDT and August "Ludwig" POLZIN were married on 9 January 1884 in Monroe County, WI.^1,10,16 August "Ludwig" POLZIN was born on 27 July 1827.¹ He died on 29 October 1890 at the age of 63.¹ He was buried in Wellington Township, Monroe County, WI.^1,17 in the St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery. (His surname is spelled "Polzine" in the church cemetery records.)

Alvine "Alvina" SUMMERFELDT and August "Ludwig" POLZIN had the following children:
