Alva Lafayette "Al" SWEET was born on 28 April 1905 in Monroe County, WI.^20,59,73 He appeared in the census in 1910 in La Grange Township, Monroe County, WI.²⁰ He appeared in the census in 1920 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.³⁰ Al graduated in 1922 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.¹¹⁰ from Tomah High School. Before 1930 he was an electrical engineer in Schenectady, Schenectady County, NY.^76,149 He worked for General Electric Corporation. He appeared in the census in 1930 in Schenectady, Schenectady County, NY.¹⁴⁹ He was a "Roomer" in the household of Clara Berning and her family. Al died on 21 September 1961 at the age of 56 in Roanoke, Roanoke County, VA.^33,73 of lung cancer.

Alva Lafayette "Al" SWEET and Marion Brandhorst BERNING were married on 15 October 1932.^33,76,150 Marion Brandhorst BERNING, daughter of Will BERNING and Clara BRANDHORST, was born on 5 August 1911.¹⁵⁰

153	ii.	Donn Lafayette SWEET was born on 14 July 1942.¹ He died on 25 July 1968 at the age of 26 in Vietnam.^1,33 in the Vietnam War. When he died, he was serving as a 1st Lieutenant in the 1st Bn., 40th Artillery, Bravo Battery as a forward observer in Dong Ha.
