Descendants of Robert Taft I

Robert Taft I was born in the early-1600’s in County Louth, Ireland. He and his unknown wife are the earliest known ancestors of the Taft families that eventually settled in Monroe County, WI.

One of his descendants, William Parks Taft, married Nancy A. Holmes, and they and their family were in Greenfield Township at the time of the 1860 Census.

Another descendent, Simon Burn Taft, married Catherine Dye and they and their children were in Greenfield Township in the 1870’s.

Yet another descendent, Fanny M. Taft, married Allen Sweet and they and their children were in Lincoln Township at the time of the 1870 Census.

All of the many Taft families in Monroe County descend from Robert and his wife.
