She was actually 24 and had married two years earlier. Her husband was not listed in the household. Vera appeared in the census in 1940 in Hopewell Township, Beaver County, PA.⁵⁷⁴ Her occupation was "High School Teacher, High School." She died on 1 March 1941 at the age of 35 in Aliquippa, Beaver County, PA.^302,575 She was buried in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.⁵⁷⁵
