Obituary Notes: "Black River Falls Banner Journal: In this village, Saturday, May 3rd, 1879, of consumption, after a lingering illness of three months, George A. Thompson, aged 68 years and five months.

The deceased was born in England and emigrated to this country when only 24 years of age. He leaves a wife, four daughters and one son to mourn his death. The remains were taken to Tomah for burial, where the funeral was held last Sunday."
George was buried on 4 May 1879 in Jacksonville, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.13,74 in the Mount Vernon Cemetery.
