She was united in marriage to William Henry Vieth June 24, 1850. Eleven children were born to this union, 7 sons and four daughters. Three sons and one daughter preceded her in death. The family came to this country in November 1867 and settled in the township of Sheldon, Monroe County, Wis. They were successful in farming and gave their children a good start in life, not only in a material way, but in a thrifty, moral and religious way. Upon their coming to this country, they joined the Evangelical church, of which they became one of the leading families. About 29 years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Vieth were necessitated to retire from the farm and moved to Norwalk, where soon after the husband was taken from her by death, Feb 24, 1900. Mr. Vieth was deeply interested in her children, and her active mind was ever ready to give counsel and advice. She was also keenly interested in the good of others. She was active in keeping up her home in town, until a year ago, when old age and sickness compelled her to live with her daughter, Mrs. Nicolai, where on Friday morning, April 1, she passed away to her eternal reward, having reached the age of 88 years, 23 days. She leave to mourn her departure, four sons--Herman, Frederick, Julius and Adolph; three daughters--Amelia (Mrs. Walterman), Matilda (Mrs. Wartman), Alvina (Mrs. Nicolai); 26 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends." .
