156. Dennis Lee WELCH was born on 12 October 1948 in Sparta, Sparta Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁰ He graduated in 1966 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁰ from Tomah High School. He died on 30 December 2003 at the age of 55.¹⁰

Obituary Notes: "Dennis Lee Welch, 55, of Tomah, died Dec. 30, 2003. He was born Oct. 12, 1948, to Thomas Wayne and Wilna (Worden) Welch at Sparta. He was united in marriage to Melissa Gates on Jan. 15, 2000. Dennis was a member of the Tomah Senior High graduating Class of 1966. After graduation, he attended Western Wisconsin Technical College and became a certified welder. Dennis worked at Walker Stainless Equipment Co. in New Lisbon and for the Toro Co. in Tomah. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife, Melissa, of Camp Douglas; three daughters, Denise (Gary) Jolin, Stephanie (Tom) Clark and Jacole Welch, all of Tomah, his mother Wilna of Tomah; grandchildren Karlee, Alexa, Macey and Danaca; two brothers, Michael (Diane) and Steve (Jill), all of Tomah; two sisters, Wanda (Rodney) Sheldon of Tomah and Tammy (Craig) Brockman of Camp Douglas; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial services were held on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at 1 p.m. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., Tomah. The Very Rev. Steve J. Kachel officiated. Burial with military honors by Grassman-Sowle-Larsen-Senz American Legion Post #201 was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12 noon until the time of the service." Dennis was buried on 7 January 2004 in Tomah, Tomah Township, Monroe County, WI.¹⁰ in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
