Bertha Frederica VINZ and Anton Baker "Tony" LARSEN were married on 13 December 1893 in Oakdale Township, Monroe County, WI.^3,7,12,29 Anton Baker "Tony" LARSEN was born in 1872.⁸ Before 1926 he was a County Sheriff in Monroe County, WI.³⁰ According to one of his grandsons, John Bowers, he served during the time of Prohibition and had a lot of resistance from "The Wets"--those who were against his attempts to enforce the laws. In July 1926, he was arrested and charged with assaulting Paul Duvie, a Tomah resident. At the time of his arrest, Sheriff Larsen stated that he was not surprised and indicated that he knew the warrant was coming. He entered a plea of innocent, but was later convicted of the charge. Following his conviction, he resigned his position.
